A Podium alternative that does more than reviews and texting.

Podium is a reputation and messaging platform, and a good one. If the messages are landing but nothing is following up, booking or selling behind them, you are looking for a different shape of product.

Short answer

Podium is a reviews and messaging platform, and as of August 2026 it publishes no prices — its pricing page directs you to sales. TheBigBot is a full growth system: AI receptionist, CRM with pipelines, website, email and SMS campaigns, published at $197 or $497 a month plus a $499 setup, with no contract.

01 · The short answer

Two different products with an overlapping surface.

Podium built its business on reviews and webchat-to-text, and then extended into payments, phones and AI modules. It is a communication layer: it makes the conversations with customers happen and it makes them happen faster.

TheBigBot is a growth system: an AI receptionist answering the phone, a CRM with pipelines behind it, a website and funnels in front of it, and email, SMS and social campaigns running off the same contact record. Reviews are one automation inside that, not the centre of it.

The overlap — texting, webchat, review requests — is real, which is why the two get compared. The question worth answering is whether your problem is conversations you are not having, or leads nobody is following up on. Those need different tools.

One practical difference before anything else: Podium does not publish its prices. Its pricing page says plans are designed to fit your specific business and directs you to talk to sales. Ours are on this page, further down, with the usage rates linked.

02 · Side by side

Podium vs. TheBigBot, feature by feature.

Where the two genuinely overlap, we say so.

03 · Credit where it’s due

What Podium is genuinely good at.

Podium is the category leader in reviews for a reason. Do not switch away from a tool that is working.

Review generation at scale

Getting review volume up is what Podium does best, and it has been doing it longer than most of the market

💬

Webchat that converts to text

Turning a website visitor into a text thread is the mechanic Podium popularised, and it still executes it well

🏦

Multi-location operations

If you run many locations with heavy review and messaging volume, Podium is built for that shape of business

04 · The difference

Where TheBigBot works differently.

Everything below is what happens after the message arrives.

📞

It answers the phone

An AI receptionist picks up 24/7, qualifies the caller and books them — missed calls stop being lost revenue

📊

A real pipeline

Every lead sits in a stage with an owner and a next action, not just an unread thread

🌐

The website is included

You are not layering a widget onto a site somebody else has to build and maintain

Database reactivation

Campaigns that go back through old contacts and restart conversations that died

📝

Content that earns traffic

On Pro, weekly blog and social publishing so the pipeline has something feeding it

💰

Published price, no contract

Plan and setup fee on the page, usage rates linked, month to month

05 · Which one is right for you

Be honest about what you need.

We would rather you pick the right tool than churn in month three.

Stay with Podium if

Reviews and messaging are the whole job.

  • Your website and follow-up already work, and reviews are the only gap.
  • You run multiple retail or service locations where review volume is the growth lever.
  • You are deep into Podium Payments or Podium Phones and moving them would be genuinely disruptive.
  • Your team already lives in Podium every day and adoption is strong.
Choose TheBigBot if

The leads arrive and then nothing happens.

  • Calls go unanswered after hours and you have no idea how many.
  • You have a list of old leads and customers nobody has contacted in a year.
  • You are paying for a website, a CRM, an email tool and a messaging tool separately.
  • You want to know what it costs without booking a call to find out.
06 · What switching looks like

What moving actually involves.

Export your contacts and we import them — contacts, tags and conversation history where the export includes it. You keep your existing phone number by porting it, or we provision a new one and forward the old one during the transition.

Your Google review connection is re-authorised on our side, so review requests keep flowing without a gap. This is the step people worry about most and it is genuinely routine.

A2P 10DLC has to be registered against the new sending setup. We submit it for you, and it is the single item that can add days to a launch, which is why it starts on day one.

Run both in parallel for a couple of weeks if you want to. We would rather you switch off Podium because the new system is clearly working than because a salesperson pressured you into a date.

08 · Questions people actually ask

Questions from people leaving Podium.

How much does Podium actually cost?
+
We are not going to quote a number we cannot verify. As of August 2026, Podium’s own pricing page publishes no plan prices — it says plans are designed to fit your specific business and asks you to talk to its sales team. Third-party blogs quote figures, but the only number you should trust is the one Podium quotes you directly.
Can I keep my phone number if I switch?
+
Yes. Numbers port between providers as a matter of course. If you would rather not port during a busy period, we provision a new number and forward your existing one until you are ready.
Will I lose my Google reviews?
+
No. Your reviews live on your Google Business Profile, not inside any tool. Switching tools changes who sends the review request, not the reviews you have already earned.
Does TheBigBot do everything Podium does?
+
No, and we will not pretend otherwise. Podium’s in-store payments hardware and its multi-location review operations tooling are more developed than ours. If those are central to how you run, that is a real reason to stay.
Do you replace my website too?
+
Yes, if you want. Both plans include a website of up to 50 pages, built for you and SEO-ready. If you have a site you are happy with, we integrate with it instead — the AI, forms and tracking work either way.
How long until it is live?
+
3 days on Authority Launch and 7 days on Authority Pro, measured from when we have your brand assets, business details and integration credentials. A2P registration timing sits with the carriers and is the one step nobody can promise a date on.

Reviews are one automation, not a growth plan.
